Eating in Edinburgh

Those of you who know me know, I LOVE food and am never one to turn down brunch, lunch, dinner or even just a snack out!

Living in Edinburgh has given me the opportunity to try some truly amazing food and restaurants! There are still sooo many I want to try, but I wanted to start putting all my favourites in one place, so here are some of my recommendations for Edinburgh!*

Mimi's Bakehouse

One of my favourite places for some delicious cake or afternoon tea! Originally a family run bakery, they have several locations around the city. My favourite one is probably their cafe on The Shore in Leith. It has space to sit outside if the weather's nice and is so cute it's going to be used in a Netflix Christmas movie!

Hula Juice Bar

If you're looking for somewhere healthy, delicious and not overpriced, Hula is the place for you! Their all-day brunches are just to die for and the juice is delicious. The biggest issue I'd say is that they don't take reservations, but even recently I've never had to wait longer than 5 minutes for a table.

Fazenda

I literally can not speak highly enough of this place. It's definitely on the pricier side and therefore more of a treat than an every day kind of place but the experience is so worth the money! They just bring you unlimited meat and sides until you flip your card and decide you don't want any more. Top tip: Go hungry! It's unlimited for the time you have your table, so you definitely want to make the most of the money you've spent. And the food is simply incredible. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable so all in all it's got everything you need for a memorable dining experience!

Candy Bar

If you're looking for somewhere cheap, but classy for food and cocktails this is definitely the place to go. The food is nothing special, but at £5 each the cocktails are a bargain and they have so many unique (and instagramable) drinks! It's central location makes it perfect if you're looking to head somewhere else after. You can easily have a meal and a few drinks for under £20.

The Refinery

This is such a great place for any time of day! We went at lunch time and it was so lovely but they also have a breakfast and dinner menu that looked really yummy! They clearly take a lot of pride in the decorations both inside and outside, which makes it really instagram worthy!

Loudons

I love the brunch here! It's always really popular and you often see a queue for tables outside! They have three different locations around the city and it's really reasonably priced! The poached eggs are just truly amazing.

Montpellier

Another restaurant that's more of a treat than an every day kind of place. The food, whilst slightly pricier than other restaurants in the city is worth the money and absolutely delicious. I ordered the duck and it was definitely delicious! Plus they have an ever-continuing Eat Out to Help Out deal which makes it good value for money! It is slightly further out of the city though.

Rabble

Another place that's great breakfast, lunch and dinner. We went for brunch and were not disappointed. Plus again there's some really beautiful decorations that make for great photo opportunities.

Whilst the above list is mainly restaurants and bars, Edinburgh also has some fabulous pubs! Notable mentions that I've been too recently included Brewhemia, Cold Town House (for great views of the castle) and Boozy Cow. The Rose Street Garden pop up is also a great place for some drinks!

Some places on my list to try:

(If you've been, please let me know your thoughts!)

  • Tattu Edinburgh

  • Tigerlilly

  • Kyloe (apparently the steak is 'immense'...)
