From our hotel in Las Vegas, we woke up REALLY early (6.15am!) to get on a pink jeep to go on a day trip to the Grand Canyon. It took us ages just to find the car park where they pick us up (if you've read my Las Vegas post you'll know how big our hotel was!) but once we were on the bus it was great! They gave us free water and orange juice and the seats were really comfy and leather. The best thing about the pink jeep was not only that it was pink, but also that it was air conditioned! The canyon is over 446 kilometres in length and is 6.4 kilometres wide at its narrowest point. It's no wonder it was granted National Park status in 1919 with 5 million visitors every year.

Along the way we stopped at Hoover Dam which had some really cool rock lines.
Hoover Dam holds back the Colorado River on the border of Nevada and Arizona. The dam contains enough concrete to stretch across the whole country and creates enough power for 1.3 million people.
There were also some really fancy shaped cacti.
When we got to the Grand Canyon we got to eat some delicious lunch which was included in the price of the tour! They had pulled pork burgers and salad, juice and pudding! It was really yummy and the view was fantastic!

After lunch I got to go on the Grand Canyon Sky Walk which sticks out over the canyon and has glass floor! The skywalk is the World's largest manmade structure at 2,300 feet. It was awesome because it really gives you a feel for the size of the canyon. They don't allow cameras on the sky walk, they say to reduce the risk of items falling into the canyon, but they have photographers on the skywalk so obviously they'll try and charge you a fortune for those photos. I gave my camera to the rest of the family, who didn't want to go up, so they could take photos of me while I was up there. If you look really carefully in the photo, you may be able to spot me!
We had a walk around the canyon and took lots of photos, but it was really hot so we were very happy when we could return to the air conditioned bus for a snooze on the way home, after a walk through the gift shop of course!

Fancy booking your own trip to the Grand Canyon? I can book tours and packages and get all the details sorted for you! All you have to do is decide how you're going to explore it, kayak? Horseback? Helicopter? Or Pink Jeep like us?
