San Diego is possibly one of the most under-appreciated cities in the United States. Some fun facts for you, San Diego produces the most avocados in the whole of the States. It's also home to the largest collection of Dr Seuss manuscripts around the world! It also has a cafe named after a baby Panda. The Hua Mei café in the San Diego Zoo was named after the first baby panda born in the Western Hemisphere since 1990! The Giant Dipper in Mission Beach is the only roller coaster in the United States to be on the National Register of Historic Places! Not only that, but there's an official fine for having Christmas lights up after the 2nd February. Pretty cool city right? The scenery's gorgeous too!

Throughout our stay in San Diego we stayed at the Manchester Grand Hyatt it has a beautiful pool area and I really enjoyed going for a night time swim before warming up whilst roasting marshmallows for Smore's by the fire pits. It was also just a short walk to the beach and into the city centre. There was also a very cute shopping outlet right on our doorstep which was perfect for getting something to eat in the evenings.
On one of the days we booked an old trolley tour through the city and got to see all the sights. It also took us to Coronado where we had a beach day! The funniest part of that day was that we didn't have a bucket and spade so we used a Pringles tube to build a sandcastle! The beaches in the area really are beautiful, but watch out for the surfers!
We also had a chance to do some shopping!

One day, we went on a Seal Tour which was in a vehicle that could travel both in water and on the road. It took us through the harbour with some commentary and to a little jetty floating in the water which was covered in seals! They were really cute! Along the way we also saw a military boat, which the commentator told us was training dolphins to protect boats and carry cameras to spy on enemies....not sure how I feel about that...
Whilst we were there, we had supper at the "Old Spaghetti Factory" which is one of our favourite restaurants. You can't get it in the UK, but we first went there whilst on our trip to Canada when I was younger. "The Cheesecake Factory" was also an amazing restaurant and though we didn't have cheesecake (we were too full after main course), their burgers were delicious!
After our couple of days in San Diego we drove back to LA to fly home from LAX.
This was the last stop on our incredible road trip. It's been an amazing experience! To read all about the rest of the trip, click here
